Located an hour outside Portland Maine, Androscoggin Riverlands state park section of the Androscoggin River is an incredible place to paddle.

The launch is a regular boat ramp with a decent amount of parking for non trailer vehicles. Make sure not to block spots that the boat trailers can park.

It’s easy to spend a an afternoon or day here. Stop at any of the several maintained sites on the islands for a meal or stay the night.

Water clarity is brown, visibility is very low, and there’s a lot of algae, pond scum, in the shallow areas. I wouldn’t swim here but the fish don’t seem to mind especially since many steps have been taken to clean up the area from decades of pollution.
